February 4, 2021
Maryland is currently under a State of Emergency which includes quarantine requirements for travel, limits for indoor and outdoor gatherings, reduced capacity at training facilities and social distancing from other people not from your household. The health and safety of all athletes, volunteers and spectators are of the utmost importance. It is due to these COVID restrictions, we are unable to proceed with the planning and execution of the 2021 Great Chesapeake Bay Swim.
What happens if the State of Emergency is lifted?
Unfortunately, the decision to cancel the 2021 Bay Swim is final. The planning and training for an event our size begins months in advance and cannot be executed in haste.
Swimmers that paid an entry fee in 2020 and opted to rollover the entry fee have the following options selection:
- Rollover entry fee to the 2022 Great Chesapeake Bay Swim. If you select this option, no refunds will be given. You will be required to complete all registration requirements which includes 2022 info. requirements of the qualifying GCBS 4.4 documentation.
- At 2022 registration, you will also have the opportunity to become a Silver Early Bird by making a $350 donation at registration. At that time, 2023 Silver Early Birds will receive a lottery entry by-pass permitting them 2023 direct entry.
- Donate your entry 2020 fee to the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim 501(c)3 charity. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated! (Not entering GCBS 2022)
- Request a refund of the 2020 entry fee. Refunds will be processed to the credit card used for payment at registration. Registered swimmers will receive an email from LIN-MARK Sports with further instructions. Refunds will be processed by March 15, 2021.
Deadline to make a selection is February 28, 2021.
If you do not make a selection by that time, your entry fee will be donated to Great Chesapeake Bay Swim charity.
We hope you and your families have a safe and healthy 2021.
